Nearly 4000 years ago, the solitary planet Padamir traced a near-circle around its dim parent star, an old white dwarf. An ancient and reclusive civilization flourished upon its surface, guided by a powerful sect of Jedi known to other worlds as the Padamir Knights. Most of these Jedi served the Light, and in so doing, attempted to preserve their society's history and literature, while continuing to focus most fiercely upon the interactions of the Force and the psychic structure of space and life surrounding it. Their position seemed secure; their aims righteous. Then, a slight disturbance, a distant disruption in hyperspace, was noticed and intercepted by several scout craft near the solar perimeter. A few partial warnings were transmitted in the seconds just prior to their destruction.
Padamir had an insignificant space fleet at the time. But it would not have mattered. The Misk had arrived, swarming and scouring the skies with warships that numbered into the millions.
The Misk were a relentless race of cybernetic arachnids, traveling across the depths of space on a religious crusade. Landing on any new planet with overwhelming force, the Misk would attempt to capture all sentient life on the planet and then drain their vital fluids into storage tanks. In the end, the 'blood' of an entire world would be transferred to their main ship, so that, at the end of the next death cycle, they would be able to summon their deity by covering the entire surface of their home star with the liquid innards of a trillion victims.
Desperate and seemingly trapped, the Padamir Knights attempted to locate a distant, safe, and inhabited planetary body to which they might retreat. Using their Psi-Force skills, they navigated space-time within their minds, sensing gravity wells laden with the bright flow of life. Finally, having located a world teeming with life and, hopefully, beyond the range of the Misk, a few of the Knights sacrificed their lives in order to create a beacon of pure life force on the chosen planet.
Padamir was then evacuated, thousands of ships heading in random directions, meaning to follow the beacon at a later interval. Most of the fleeing ships were destroyed or captured almost immediately. The flagship of the Padamir Knights, the Recalcitrant, was the only known ship to actually reach the beacon. The others apparently lost track, were hunted down and destroyed, or settled elsewhere. Unfortunately, the planet they were hurtling towards was a violently hostile world known as Vanagar. Most of Vanagar's life forms lived underground to escape a toxic and volatile atmosphere. And so, the beacon, centered with the endemic life, was hundreds of meters below the surface. The NavComp was programmed to land at the site of the beacon, and did so, or at least tried to.... The Recalcitrant burrowed through hundreds of meters of brittle rock before its shielding failed. A number of its passengers died in the crash.
Further, the most precious possession of the Padamir Knights, the Nexus Blade, was shattered into thousands of sliver-like fragments. The blade was composed of numerous psychic anomalies within the Force, living and crystalline with possibilities. The blade served as a focus for the spirits of Padamir Masters, swimming in its psychic eddies and distortions for a longer time than normally possible, allowing them to complete the training of younger Jedi, and add one last ray to the Light before moving into the next phase of existence, finally one with the Light. The slivers of the blade, attracted to living things almost magnetically, embedded themselves within thousands of life forms across Vanagar. And so, while living underground, the descendents of the first Padamir pioneers searched the bodies of the recently dead, attempting to locate the slivers before they moved on to a new host. Slowly, they began reconstructing the Nexus Blade, and have finished nearly half of it at this time.
Following the settling of Narwhald, a number of the Padamir moved up to the planet's surface, trading minerals and other underworld products to the Ortolans for credits. Eventually, they constructed this temple, and then placed the incomplete Nexus Blade within. And so, seeking the Light, the Padamir Knights recruit new followers and ideal spirits.
Nexus Blade Slivers
Each monster on Vanagar has a random chance of carrying a sliver of the great Nexus Blade. The higher the level on monster, the more likely is it that you will find slivers on them. But all monsters could carry one (or more) of these. These slivers must be returned to the Padamir temple. From temple entrance, d, n, d, s, shower. You will be rewarded with a increase in your nexus connection (not always though). To increase you proficiency with the Padamir Dirk and Suit, all that is demanded is that you use it a lot. But this is also counted into the increase in ranks in the Padamir guild.
One way to gain Padamir points is to complete Padamir minis. Here is the list of all the minis and how many points each provides.
